Venue:

Description

Birth Brachial Plexus Palsy is a type of nerve injury that occurs around the time of birth, affecting the network of nerves (the brachial plexus) that control movement and sensation in the shoulder, arm, and hand. These nerves originate from the spinal cord in the neck and travel down into the arm.

Objectives

This activity is to enhance participants’ understanding of Birth Brachial Plexus Palsy (BBPP) by enabling them to describe its definition, causes, and risk factors; recognize the different types of brachial plexus injuries and their clinical features; and discuss appropriate management strategies, including early physiotherapy, surgical interventions, and family education. Participants will also learn to assess affected infants, identify prognosis factors, and appreciate the importance of multidisciplinary care in promoting optimal recovery and functional outcomes.
