Description
This training provided a comprehensive overview of anaemia in chronic kidney disease (CKD), covering the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of renal anaemia. The session explored the kidney's role in erythropoietin production, mechanisms of anaemia development in CKD, including erythropoietin deficiency, iron dysregulation, inflammation, and shortened red blood cell survival. It also addressed diagnostic evaluation, iron studies, erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), haemoglobin targets, novel therapies, and management considerations in special patient populations.
