Description
It is a syndrome unique to pregnant human, characterized by the new onset of hypertension and proteinuria and or edema in the second half of gestation.
Objectives
Definitions, classifications, signs, symptoms, risk factors, investigations, complications and management of conditions like pre-eclampsia and eclampsia.
pre-eclampsia as hypertension with proteinuria developing after 20 weeks in a previously normotensive woman. Eclampsia is defined as pre-eclampsia with seizures.
Management involves controlling blood pressure, preventing seizures, monitoring the patient closely, and timely delivery of the baby. Magnesium sulfate is the primary treatment for preventing and treating seizures.
