Anatomy - Types of Hernias Indirect: Pass lateral to deep epigastric vessels through the inguinal canal, associated with processus vaginalis remains patent. Direct: Medial to the epigastric vessels, not through the canal. Femoral: Below the inguinal ligament, rare in children. Communicating Hydrocele: Narrowly patent processus vaginalis allowing fluid. Hydrocele of Spermatic Cord: Fluid trapped in the processus vaginalis
