Description
Physics of mechanical ventilators A mechanical ventilator either fully or partially supports a patient’s work of breathing. The basic build of a mechanical ventilator can be described according to (1) input power (2) source of pressurised gas (3) drive mechanism, or (4) control circuit.
Objectives
1 Recognize and discuss different modes of ventilation
2 Introduction to low flow anesthesia
3 Understand the benefits of using Ecoflow
4 Discuss lung protective ventilation
Guidelines in the Initiation of Mechanical Ventilation
Primary goals of mechanical ventilation are adequate oxygenation/ventilation, reduced work of breathing, synchrony of vent and patient, and avoidance of high peak pressures
