Description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of stroke, a significant medical condition with profound implications for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Stroke, often referred to as a "brain attack," is a leading cause of disability and death globally. This course delves into the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment modalities, and prevention strategies associated with stroke.

Objectives

1. Understanding Stroke Types and Causes: Participants will gain knowledge about the different types of stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic) and their underlying causes, including risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and lifestyle factors. 2. Recognizing Signs and Symptoms: Participants will learn to identify the signs and symptoms of stroke, including sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech, and sudden difficulty walking, among others. 3. Emergency Response and Assessment: Participants will be equipped with the skills to promptly recognize stroke symptoms and initiate appropriate emergency response protocols, including activating stroke teams, performing rapid neurological assessments, and facilitating timely transport to specialized stroke centers. 4. Diagnostic Evaluation: Participants will understand the diagnostic tools and imaging techniques used in the evaluation of stroke, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and angiography, enabling them to interpret findings and guide patient management.
