Description

The Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS), in collaboration with the Neurosurgical Society of Kenya (NSK), is pleased to announce the upcoming Trauma and Brain-Spine Injury (TBSI) Course. This blended learning program aims to strengthen the capacity of regional general surgeons and surgical residents to manage neurotrauma cases within resource-limited settings. We invite your institution to nominate interested general surgeons, surgical residents, or other relevant practitioners to participate in this program. Kindly submit a list of nominees (including their names, contact details, and positions) by October 15th, 2025.

Objectives

To enable regional general surgeons and residents to effectively manage neurotrauma cases. To promote self-directed learning through digital training materials (knowledge base and skills modules). To assist trainees in evaluating their skills through guided self-assessment tools. Course Structure The TBSI Course consists of an introductory module, four structured clinical modules, and a closing session. Participants are expected to complete the introductory module before the in-person training. Modules: 1. Assessment of a Trauma Patient 2. Assessment of Traumatic Brain Injury 3. Surgery and Surgical Techniques for Traumatic Brain Injury 4. Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury All participants will receive access to the CNIS platform on Moodle App, where course lectures, materials, and digital self-assessment tools are hosted. Detailed guidance and module instructions will be provided within the app.
