Edwin Gitonga is a passionate palliative care advocate and currently serves as the CEO of Laikipia Palliative Care Centre. As a trained Clinical Officer, he is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Palliative Care at Makerere University. Edwin is actively involved in KEHPCA’s “Accessible and Equitable SRH Whenever, Wherever” project, supported by AmplifyChange, where he has gained extensive knowledge on integrating sexual and reproductive health (SRH) into palliative care. Through this work, he has developed innovative, tailored SRH solutions to address the unique needs of patients, demonstrating his commitment to holistic, patient-centered care.

Muthoni Gichu
Dr. Muthoni Gichu is a medical gerontologist at the Division of Healthy Ageing, Palliative Care, and Older Persons at Kenya’s Ministry of Health. She specializes in healthy ageing, older persons’ health, brain health, dementia prevention, and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). Dr. Muthoni is particularly passionate about SRH across the life course, advocating for open, informed conversations and the integration of sexual and reproductive health services into palliative and geriatric care. With over a decade of leadership in healthy ageing, she has shaped national strategies, mobilized global partnerships, and driven community-based innovations to ensure comprehensive, person-centered care. Her commitment is to empower older persons and patients of all ages to live with dignity, health, and joy, while addressing often-overlooked aspects of sexuality, intimacy, and reproductive well-being in healthcare.
