Introduction A Preterm is defined as a baby born alive before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy. Classification of preterm birth, based on gestational age: Extremely preterm (<28 weeks) Very preterm (28 to <32 weeks) Moderate to late preterm (32 to <37 weeks). Objectives

MANAGEMENT OF EARLY COMPLICATIONS Respiratory; -Oxygen administration -Antibiotics -CPAP/Mechanical ventilation -Xanthines for apnoea-caffeine citrate CNS; - Hypoxia; Effective resuscitation at birth - Intracranial Bleeds; Transfusion, cardiovascular stability Metabolic; Monitoring and appropriate replacement of relevant substrate Cardiovascular, - PDA; Fluid restriction, diuretics, indomethacin - Bradycardia- inotropic support
