Objectives

* Recognizing the signs and symptoms of an asthma exacerbation. * Evaluating the severity of an asthma exacerbation using standardized assessment tools. * Identifying appropriate rescue medications and inhaler techniques for acute asthma exacerbations. * Applying evidence-based strategies for preventing asthma exacerbations in patients. * Developing an individualized asthma action plan for patients to facilitate early intervention and prevent exacerbations. * Describing the stepwise approach to asthma management and the role of controller medications in preventing exacerbations. * Identifying clinical indicators of uncontrolled asthma and candidates who may benefit from the addition of biologic therapy to treatment plans.
